Hello everyone,
welcome back for the start of the Spring semester! The Spring colloquium series is going to start off with a bang, as a number of tenure-track faculty candidates visit and give talks about their research.
Our first speaker is Dan Lin, a postdoc in databases and geographic information systems at Purdue University. She will be speaking on "Moving Objects Databases" this coming Wednesday. Her abstract and bio appear below.
-Discuss upcoming Guitar Hero tournament, new officers (Michelle and Justin), upcoming speakers.
-We will have a pretzel/ticket sale Wed Jan 30th on the ground floor of Wachman. Chris will get the pretzels, Alanna will set up around 11:45, Chris will attend to the table in the afternoon.
-There will be a general meeting with pizza on Feb 6th from 12-1.
-Ideas for Spring Fling?
-Claudia will bring the dinner menu to the next meeting
-Rebecca had a neat idea for a Sudoku icebreaker for the dinner.
-Chris will help to organize class visits from ACM
Professional / Academic Development:
Paul was unable to attend, Alanna will contact a recruiter from Microsoft, the one who came last semester that we didn't know about.
Budget:
Michelle will be attending TSG meetings this semester. Is anyone available to cover for her at this coming Monday's meeting at 4?

Marketing:
Joe is our new Director of Marketing (welcome!)
Web Development:
Alanna will update the website with events and pictures, all officers must sign up for an account! Claudia will give Alanna and Paul the admin password.
